Thursday the 7th grade soccer team played Lindop in a fantastic match up. The Wildcats started with great intensity and kept that pressure on the Tigers for the full 40 minutes of play. Eric Watson started in goal and did not see much action as a result of our amazing defenders, which included Lydia Scheidler, Caleb Munoz, Colin Griffin, Molly O'Toole, Isaac Santoni, and Emanuel Reyes. Sports Illustrated better get ready for a cover story because our first goal was kicked high and perfect by Christian Garza to set up David Waas as he HEADED the ball into the corner of the net to make the score 1-0. Our offense was spot on as we had excellent communication and passing by Aaliyah Jimenez, Ryan Lach, Mark Litavecz, Andrew Lukwinski, Giovanni Romano, and Clariza Villa. Christian scored our second goal of the game and charging to the net and scoring our last and final goal of the game was Skylar Cerny. The wildcats finished with a win and score of 3-0. Coach Banas and Coach Vemmer want to commend the wildcats for their outstanding effort and sportsmanship.
The 8th grade team found success in a gritty 2-1 victory over Lindop. Despite cold conditions, the Wildcats took control of the game from kickoff. Forwards, Axel Martel, Peter Rafael and Aliana Chiquito put on high pressure, creating many scoring chances early on. Moira Ford took charge of the midfield, with help from Josh Villalobos on the left and Sam Avila on the right. Unfortunately, Lindop made a good charge late in the half, putting us down 1-0 at the break. In the 2nd half, Komarek kept up the high pressure on the Lindop defense, and came out successful when Josh Villalobos finished a great shot off a cross from the outside. Shortly after, Sam Avila did the same giving the Wildcats the lead! Birthday boy, Ian Hardin, made a great save as goalie in the 2nd half, and Erik Pullen and Rocco Reyes were asked to play different positions… they rose to the occasion and did a great job! Defense stayed strong in the 2nd half with smart play all around by Maximus Bernal, Daisy Murilo, Noah Hoadley, Aaron Vazquez, Mustafa Syed and Marta Janas. Great team effort Wildcats!!!
